Safe Passage Kick-Off.

12 Mar

Join us this Friday for MomTime!  This week, we will kick-off our service project for the Spring 2013 Session:  Safe Passage in Guatemala.  Kelly Hogeland will be our speaker, and she will talk more about this amazing organization that is working in Guatemala City to bring hope, education, and opportunity to the children and families living in extreme poverty around the City’s garbage dump. Kelly is a schoolteacher who is organizing a group of teachers who will travel to Guatemala and volunteer with Safe Passage in June.

As most of you know, MomTime is collecting lice treatment shampoo and socks (kids sizes 2T and up) to send with this group.  You may drop off your donation on Friday or throughout the next several weeks (through May).  Hopefully, this will project provide us all an opportunity to talk with our kids about some of the challenges faced by  families in other countries, and to involve them in making a difference.

Our service project coordinators (Martina, Kim and Haley) will provide more details about the project and answer questions on Friday.  To learn more about Safe Passage, go to:  http://www.safepassage.org/

Reminder… MNO is this week (3/14 at Jett). It’s a great chance to relax and have fun and get to know other fabulous women!

See you on Friday (or Thursday if you’ll be at MNO)!
