Sacred Art.

“Art goes beyond the place where words break down.”

Sandy Prouty is a former art teacher and current Minister of Children and Families at Montview Blvd Pres Church.  She leads the Sacred Art program at Montview, which is a week-long summer camp for children ages 5-10.  The camp started as a  single week offering for a handful of children a few years ago and has now grown to multiple sessions offered throughout the summer.

The Sacred Art curriculum covers Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism by focusing on each religion per day of camp. At the end of the week, Sandy ties together the similarities and differences so that the children can learn to appreciate the diversity of these faiths.

The Golden Rule:

Sandy showed us the materials she shares with the kids at Sacred Art, and had us create our own Buddhist prayer flags.  We inscribed our prayers for the world on these colorful flags and Sandy will string them together for us to view at the next MomTime meeting.

If you want to register your child for this summer’s sessions beginning June 16, visit the Montview website.  You can also contact Sandy directly at prouty@montview.org or 303-355-1651×110.
