MomTime MomTrepreneurs Market on Friday, April 7th

22 Apr

On Friday,  April 7th, five moms + business owners (= “MomTrepreneurs”) shared their stories and showcased their products and services with the group. It was exciting to hear how these busy moms have turned their passion, skills and creativity into enterprising businesses that also allow them flexibility to work from home and take care of a family. We had moms showcase a variety of businesses including –

Laura Clark sews and sells custom stick horses and memory bears. Shannon Balmes designs fabric and clothes for kids and women. Mikele Imbrahim publishes the Downtown Denver edition of Carmen Mix (a former retail shop owner) is a custom menswear stylist with J. Hilburn. Jill Eleson is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and owns WholeListically Yours.

Each mom described her products/services plus shared her story about her background, how she got started with the business and benefits and challenges of owning/running a business while balancing family life.

Here are some excerpts from the presentations:

From Carmen Mix, J.HILBURN Custom Menswear Stylist:

“As a custom menswear Personal Stylist with J.Hilburn, I help guys look and feel good about what he wears.  Life is full of challenges. A guy’s wardrobe, however, shouldn’t be one of them.  I help the guy who doesn’t have the time (or, perhaps, the inclination) to find clothes that fit his lifestyle or body type. And whether that means helping decipher a dress code or select the most flattering suit, I always provide my honest opinion.  A guy doesn’t need a lot of clothes to look and feel good. He needs to have the right pieces that will provide functionality and versatility.  That usually means going through his existing closet to find gems, determine wardrobe needs, get rid of ill-fitting and outdated, and give advice on creating outfits.”
